Designation

Lime whitewash

Preparing the substrate

Undercoat for lime = 5 kg per 50 m² Odourless, low-VOC, matt, semi-covering undercoat based on non-toxic, highly biodegradable chemical additives, selected quartz and premium silica sands bound with acrylic resin emulsion.

Very good adhesion. Very easy to apply. Quick drying. Good resistance to atmospheric agents. Excellent water vapour permeability.
Particularly suitable for bonding all our interior and exterior lime-based finishes to non- lime-based substrates such as acrylic, vinyl or glycerol paints (gloss and satin to be sanded), plaster, painters’ plaster, concrete, etc.; or to old lime-based substrates that are slightly chalking.
Can also be used as a primer for mineral paints and coatings on poorly fixed substrates. Be careful with smooth paints, however, as this undercoat has a slightly rough appearance when dry.

Facim SF bonding coat for fine coatings= 25 Kg for 20m².

Partly composed of fat lime, natural hydraulic lime, special binders, factory premixed mineral fillers and additives specifically to improve its adhesion to all types of surfaces.

for levelling on new and old substrates, including those coated with old paint
as an adhesion bridge or gobetis; on smooth concrete, thin and closed renders and glazed surfaces, as well as for the preparation and appropriation of substrates not initially compatible with hydraulic renders.

Materials & Equipment needed

Tools

Cod tail for painting, rectangular bristle brush or spalter

Lime paste = 7 kg for 35 to 50m².

Natural pigments (maximum 20% saturation by volume) = 1 kg for 50m² saturation

Oxides, synthetic and artificial pigments = 10% of the weight of lime

if required, for greater resistance and hold

Acrylic binder or alum salt or casein predose = 1 kg per 100 m² (20% of the mixture for exterior whitewash)

Low-VOC, odourless adhesive for interior and exterior use, based on vinyl acetate copolymers, modified acrylic polymers and retardants in aqueous dispersion.

Improves the characteristics of mixes based on lime, cement, plaster, etc., regulating and modifying curing times while increasing mechanical strength and adhesion, which considerably improves application.

Application

THICKNESS Film applied in one or two successive coats depending on the thickness of the whitewash.

COMPOSITION: Lime paste – water – pigments – alum salt or lime additive (if necessary)

USE: Mix the lime with water to a consistency ranging from cream to milk, depending on the desired texture. Mix the pigment previously (12 h) hydrated in water (thick cream) for better colour dispersion. You can add pigment for a stronger colour by adding a binder to fix the pigment (acrylic resin-alum salt-casein, etc.).

APPLICATION: On a slightly porous surface so that the whitewash adheres. Apply with a brush. Remember to moisten the surface before applying the whitewash, especially on plaster.
